(Ecuador CNSAM). The First Church of the Nazarene organized due to the ministry of the Jesus Film in South America, celebrated its fifteenth anniversary on October 19, 2014.
Brother Rodrigo began the work in the Church of the Nazarene in North San Francisco in Quito, Ecuador with 56 people that made professions of faith when the Jesus Film was projected in this neighborhood. On October 17, 1999 they organized the church and today there are more than 200 in attendance and 6 daughter churches.
Pastor Rodrigo Olmedo, was converted through the 700 Club and in his first love accepted the challenge of evangelizing with the Jesus Film. Currently, he is the national coordinator of the Jesus Film ministry in Ecuador, an evangelical tool that has been shown to 30 thousand people of which 2 thousand have accepted the Lord and have organized 64 churches in the whole country.
There were various founding members who were invited, along with the North Andean Field Strategy Coordinator, Rev. Dwight Rich, who brought the message and shared the history of pastor Olmedo’s life. They also enjoyed a time of fellowship, worship, memories, and thanksgiving for the work of God in this place through special songs, drama, testimonies and a traditional birthday cake at the end.
But the challenges of the Church of the Nazarene of North San Francisco don’t end there. they are working with a daughter church, in Porto Viejo and working in two points in the city of Quito to open new churches in these locations.
