(Brazil CNSAM). Pastor Gustavo Santana went to Macapá, capital of the Brazilian state of Amapá, in the extreme north of the country. The city of Macapá has a population of almost 400,000. Although there are several evangelical denominations advancing the Kingdom of God in the city, the Church of the Nazarene has just begun.
On June 6, 2013, Pastor Gustavo Santana along with his family began the work of the Church of the Nazarene in their house in Macapá. Pastor Santana says the strategy was very simple — going house to house inviting the people to meetings at the church, using social media and sharing the Word of God. Soon they will begin working with married couples. With the same enthusiasm and the same vision, on October 8, 2013, they began the second congregation in Infraero I.
Eight months later, at the time of the Assembly of the Amazonas District (February 15, 2014), Pastor Santana reported that the new church had 15 adults and 15 children. In March of 2014 they will baptize the first four converts.
They are looking at the possibility of acquiring land, although in a step of faith, they already plan to receive a Nazateen group in July of 2014, which will help in the construction of the first church building. Nazateen is a group of 90 adolescents from the Central Church of the Nazarene in Campinas.
So now the Amazonas District has churches in all the states included on the district and the Church of the Nazarene has churches in the 26 states in Brazil. Praise the Lord!
