(Peru CNSAM). The Church of the Nazarene in Peru continues training pastors and lay people using the DCPI (Dynamic Church Planting International) program for planting new churches.
In 2013, Peru’s Field Strategy Coordinator, Rev. Segundo Rimarachín was trained by DCPI at the South America Regional headquarters in Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In 2014, the first DCPI was organized and held in Peru for the district superintendents, pastors and several lay people. Eighteen pastors and lay people graduated from the course “Church Planting Essentials,” and 16 became Certified Instructors at that time. In the same year, a training event was held at a national level with the participation of pastors and lay people from most of the country’s 16 districts. During that event, 123 pastors and lay people graduated in the “Church Planting Essentials” course, and 69 became Certified Instructors.
During 2014, several districts continued with training sessions in the “Church Planting Essentials” course. The number of graduates from each of those districts is as follows:
Peru’s Northeast District graduated 76 pastors and lay people. The Peru Andino district graduated 83 pastors and lay people. Peru’s North Distrcit had 93 graduates.
From August 20-22, 2015, the Peru Utcubamba District graduated 41 pastors and lay people in the “Church Planting Essentials” course. Among them was pastor Lourdes Palacios from Peru’s North Pacific District and Pastor Hérman Alcántara from the La Libertad-Chavín District who planted the church in the region of Puno, on the border with Bolivia in January of 2008.
The total number of people trained in “Church Planting Essentials” by DCPI in Peru were: 2 Masters, 83 Certified Instructors and 434 pastors and lay people.
The goal as a country is to train 500 pastors and lay people in Church Planting Essentials and to plant 1,000 churches by the year 2020.
The next training session for Church Planting Essentials will be in Trujillo in October 2015. Training on the national level for Church Planting Essentials and Certified Instructors will be held in Piura in May 2016. For more information, please write to: firstname.lastname@example.org
