(Ecuador CNSAM). From Thursday, April 3, to Saturday, April 5, 2014, a training retreat for church planters was held in Riobamba, the city also known as the center of the country. The event took place in the Sierra Central District Convention Center, and District Superintendent Rev. Mario Paredes was the host.
Seventy-three people from the six districts in Ecuador participated in the event. Among them were pastors who were opening new works and people involved in establishing new churches.
The training was led by DCPI certified instructors: Rev. Dwight Rich, North Andean Field Strategy Coordinator; Rev. Hernán Puga, Ecuador’s Sierra North District Superintendent; Rev. Mario Paredes, hosting District Superintendent; Rev. Redrigo Olmedo, National Evangelism Coordinator; Rev. Dana Howard, Coordinator of Holistic Ministries for the North Andean Field; and Rev Roberto Quinatoa, pastor of the Comité Church of the Nazarene in that city. Notable leaders who assisted in the training were Rev. Carlos Fernández, Regional Evangelism Coordinator, and Rev. Sam Flores who came from DCPI in the US.
Of the 73 participants, 60 completed the 21 hours of required training and received Church Planter Certification. This is another effort to strengthen the vision and meet the district goals of organizing 18 new churches in the country and planting 35 more churches during the year 2014.
