Evolution Conference

(Brazil CNSAM). From August 22-24, 2015, the Bethel Church of the Nazarene in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais held their eighth Evolution Conference.

God moved mightily during those three days. More than 50 young people committed their lives to Jesus. Many rededicated their lives and were broken before the Lord.

The theme of the event was “Evolution”, a message which taught those present that true change happens by falling at the feet of Jesus every day and that growth without Christ’s presence is worthless.

Among those who attended were: Pastor Guilherme Batista from the city of Goiania; King’s Praise Ministry; praise ministry from the local church; Adriano Pedroso, the main pastor of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene; and the NYI (Nazarene Youth International) president, Lucas Guimarães.

Something interesting about this conference is that it was not started in a church. It began in the streets of Belo Horizonte, where the youth went out to evangelize in the schools, the busses, at traffic lights and through social networks.

To raise the money needed to organize the conference, they stared having bake/food sales with alfajores, marmitex and other sweets. They held car washes on Saturdays and sold food at the weekly church services. With all that they received from their efforts, they exceeded their extraordinary goal and paid all that was needed for the conference (offering for the speaker, music ministry, materials/hand-outs, air fares, hotel, food, and other costs). Beyond covering expenses, they were able to donate more than 6,000 reales (about $1500) toward the church’s construction.

With all that was accomplished, we can only thank God for his kindness, mercy and grace. We give Him honor and glory forever, because through Him and for Him are all things.
