(CNSAM Brasil) On February 18, 2016, aged 76, died the Rev. Olinda Hezir Maia Torres. Daughter of Pr. Abner and Pedrina Maia, married to Pr. Joao Herculaneum Torres (in memory). She was an officer of the Salvation Army, and soon after came to the Church of the Nazarene. He started the ministry with her husband in Campinas in the 70s, which led many camps in Serra Negra. In the early 80s, she served in the ministry in the capital of the State of São Paulo and in recent months returned to live in Campinas.
Mrs. Olinda, as she was customarily called, was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene. She dedicated 40 years to the good of society through counseling to the afflicted, guidance to young people and strengthening adults and the elderly through studies of the Gospels. An evangelist and intercessor committed to her mission, even in her bed and unable to walk due to a stroke, she continued to offer pastoral care and intercession for the brothers and sisters in Christ on your prayer list.
With her unique sense of humor and direct words, she would exhort those in need and speak of the greatness of salvation.
Her brother, Sydney Maia and their children: Waner, Walbner, Cristiane, Suzana, Alex and their 11 grandchildren witnessed the testimony of a woman who lived up to the last moment of life on earth committed to Jesus Christ. Her testimony of life is a legacy for all those who knew her.
“The joy and spontaneity of Mrs. Hezir enchanted me and she won my heart the first time we talked. I am sad I could not live any longer with such a sweet person. I have great admiration for her and will miss her dearly” Fernanda De Mario
A service of mourning and celebration was held on February 19, and was attended by friends and family. May the Lord fill the void of loss through the certainty of meeting once again in glory.
