(Venezuela CNSAM). A new ministry called “Love for our Own” was launched on March 28, 2014 in Plaza Bolivar, Barinas, Venezuela. Teens and young and older adults of the local Church of the Nazarene united to begin the great challenge of serving their city by showing God’s love through various community activities.
The coordinator, Ronald Castro, reports: “Our mission is to reach a generation that is able to confront challenges and overcome obstacles with great love and passion for our Lord Jesus Christ. “Love for our Own” is a compassionate ministry whose vision is to stir up a fire of love and passion for our Lord Jesus Christ in every person in our Cruz Paredes municipality through an active and dynamic life in Christ. Guided by the Scripture, we want to generate a different life style, not just a religion. Where? In the streets, in plazas, schools, universities, and communities where teens and youth are submerged in drugs, alcohol, and prostitution and also in places where no one wants to go with a divine purpose. The challenge has been given and God waits for us to act on it. We will not be alone. He promises His presence! The purpose is to transform the lives of people, filling them with a love for our own, for a society where unity, peace, respect, and love are converted into Christian examples and models for the next generation to follow.”
The inauguration of the program took place in Plaza Bolivar at 5 P.M. with songs, choreography, words of reflection for the family, and an announcement of the first service for Saturday April 5th. Also, the group beautified the Guillermo Tell Villegas Pulido School in that city. Youth of all ages participated and the directors and assistants of the school were greatly impacted.
