(Venezuela CNSAM). On December 21, 2013, in a humble sector of the city Maracaibo, the Marques Church of the Nazarene was organized. The mission that started five years ago as a cell group was organized as a church on the Lake Venezuela District with a membership of about 100 people: 32 adults and more than 60 children.
The Marques Church is a daughter congregation of the El Caujaro Church of the Nazarene pastored by Rev. Carlos Cordero and his wife. The mother church not only helped the cell group become an organized church. It also gave the recently organized church its pastors Jhony and Paola de Ríos, members of the mother church. The Marques Church of the Nazarene already has its own land and a portable chapel, but they are beginning work on the construction of a new church building.
Rev. Carlos Cordero, District Superintendent and pastor of the mother church says, “We want to remind you that your work was not in vain, that the Church of the Nazarene in Venezuela will continue growing and fulfilling the Great Commission—not only in our country. We are also actively participating in prayer, generosity and personally in other parts of the world. We also thank those who taught us, those who gave us tools for ministry, those who gave offerings to cover educational expenses, purchase property, and for the construction of churches and parsonages. In this case, a group of university students installed the portable chapel, and now it even has air conditioning because of the pastors’ initiative. Thanks to all, because we are all part of the same team.”
