(Venezuela CNSAM). On Saturday, April 5, 2014, the “Vida Nueva” (New Life) Church of the Nazarene of Machiques in Zulia State, celebrated the one year anniversary of the program “Blessing the City”. The program airs on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Channel 11 Imagen TV, the cable channel of Machiques county.
As the result of an event for married couples at the Vida Nueva Church of the Nazarene of Machiques, Jorge Arrieta and his wife, Carolina Rodríguez came to church and made a profession of faith. Jorge, is the director of Channel 11 and he suggested to the pastor of the church, Rev. Edward Enrique Chávez Díaz, that he begin a television program. That is how the program “Bendiciendo la ciudad” (Blessing the City) began. It aired for the first time on Saturday, April 6, 2013. Because of the program’s quality and subject matter the Mayor’s Office of Machiques financed the program for the entire first year. Presently the program is financed by Carolina and Jorge Arrieta and reaches some 100,000 people. This channel has more than 20,000 viewers in the counties of Machiques de Perijá and Villa del Rosario.
To celebrate the first anniversary they had a special program in which the television viewers had the leading role as they flooded the phone lines. The three people who answered the calls weren’t able to handle them all. On Saturday night they thanked God with a service in the church accompanied by the Lagos District Superintendent, Rev. Carlos Corder, other Nazarene pastors and other sister churches of the county of Machiques. The celebration concluded with the regular services of the church on Sunday morning and evening.
