(Peru CNSAM). On January 19th, 2014 six pastors were ordained elders at the ordination service at the Comas Church of the Nazarene, Central Peru District. Close to 400 were present at the ceremony.
The licensed ministers approved by their respective Assemblies to receive the highest order given in the Church of the Nazarene were: Jorge Antonio Hurtado Rivadeneyra, Elí Omar Porras Salinas, José David Eliezer Balcázar Medina, Elmer Quintana Guevara and Edilberto Hernández Vásquez, from the Peru Central District, Lima; and Eleodoro Gabriel Hurtado, from the Alto Marañón Central Peru District.
The message was given by General Superintendent, Dr. Jerry Porter, whom with profound conviction said that the supreme goal God has given for us is to be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ and to make Christ-like disciples. He emphasized that our message of holiness has not changed but we do need to change our methods. To intentionally make disciples like Jesus did, like Paul and John Wesley, is our challenge today if we are to reach the nations. He said that there are three questions that every christian should answer: who is discipling you?, who are you discipling?, and who is your disciple discipling?
In addition to the General Superintendent, Regional Director, Dr. Christian Sarmiento, Area Strategy Coordinator, Rev. Segundo Rimarachín, and elders from Lima, Chiclayo and Jaén were present for the ceremony.
