(Chile CNSAM). In the recent annual meeting of the Administrative Board of the NBS (Nazarene Biblical Seminary), held on Monday, November 16, 2015, in the headquarters of the Seminary in Santiago, Chile, Rev. Oscar Varas Ruiz was reelected Rector of the Seminary for a period of two years 2016-2017.
Rev. Varas is from Iquique and is married to Rev. Maria Paz del Canto. They have two children; Oscar Jr. and Barbara. He was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene and he has a long ministerial career as pastor of the Iquique Church of the Nazarene and also as superintendent of the North District of Chile.
He earned a Bachelor’s in Theology from the Nazarene Biblical Seminary and a degree in theology from the Nazarene Theological Seminary of the South Cone located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At present he is a student in the Master’s program in the Nazarene Seminary of the Americas (SENDAS), Costa Rica.
The Nazarene Biblical Seminary (NBS) is an institution accredited by the International Board of Education of the Church of the Nazarene (IBOE) and serves the four Chilean districts in the Certification Program and Bachelor’s in Theology Program. At present it has 87 students who study in 6 Theological Education by Extension (TEE) centers throughout the country.
