(Ecuador CNSAM). From the 22nd to the 24th of April, 2014, in the Nazarene Theological Seminary of South America in Quito, Ecuador the event ReVision 2014 was held.
63 people representing all of the areas of the Church of the Nazarene in the 10 countries of South America met there. General Superintendent, Dr. Jerry D. Porter; Global Missions Director, Dr. Verne S. Ward III; Dr. Christian Sarmiento, South America Regional Director; members of the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC); Field Strategy Coordinators; Integral Ministry Coordinators; Regional Ministries Coordinators and representatives of District Superintendents, pastors and laymen, all studied the background of the vision of the SAM Region (“Living the Great Commission”) and the 5 strategic axes (Revival, Evangelism, Discipleship, Leadership and Communication) formulated by 43 representatives of the Church of the Nazarene in South America on April 2006 in the city of Pilar, Argentina.
After the challenge of “Raise your eyes to the fields ready for harvest” by Dr. Sarmiento, the participants formed 10 work groups under the direction of David Gonzalez and Larry Fisher. The work was based on a survey previously sent out to pastors, superintendents, missionaries and members who sought to probe the needs and development of the Church of the Nazarene in SAM.
The results of the event were specific projects in each strategic axis to reflect the vision at all levels of the church the next three years (April 2017). Dr. Sarmiento together with the RAC and the Regional leadership team marked out the steps to evaluate and present the projects to all the congregations of South America in the next six months for the contextualization of the projects.
The participants gladly welcomed the possibility of sharing their ideas in order to strengthen the regional vision and continue the mission of the Church of the Nazarene: “To Make Christlike Disciples in South America”.
