(Peru CNSAM). On January 29, 2013 the Church of the Nazarene in Puno celebrated 5 years in the city and one year as an organized church.
The Puno region is in the mountains of southeastern Peru on the Collao plateau and at the banks of Lake Titicaca. Its capital is the city of Puno with an altitude of 12,421 feet. The population of the Puno region is approximately 1,500,000 and the capital city has 120,000 inhabitants.
Five years ago the Church of the Nazarene arrived in this city with the message of Holiness. God put it on the heart of the main leaders a vision to come to this region and to plant a church. Upon seeing the results we can say Praise be to God!
Today the Church of the Nazarene “House of Peace” is located at 552 Tiahuanaco Street, José Antonio Encinas Residential Area, Puno, and it has 69 full members and 39 members in preparation. It has begun 4 new churches: Juliaca that has 7 full members and 20 in preparation, Salcedo with 7 members and 15 in preparation, Yanamayo with 6 full members and 14 in preparation and Chipana with 10 full members and 5 in preparation.
On January 29 they celebrated five years and one year as an organized church. 155 people attended the anniversary service and the main message was preached by the district superintendent, Rev. Edilberto Solano Castro. It was a wonderful time of gratitude to God for his abundant blessings.
“We want to end the year 2013 with 90 members and move the new missions to the second level, with a minimum of 12 full members each; and have a branch center of ETED (from the Spanish abbreviations: Decentralized Theological Education) to prepare the leadership and those who have a call to serve God full time”, expresses pastor Hermán Alcántara, who has pastored this church from its beginnings.
