United for Sunday School

(Ecuador CNSAM) From July 25-27 Sunday School Ministries held a training workshop called “Beyond Ourselves” in Quito, Ecuador.

The event was made possible by the united efforts of the Church of God in the US, the couple Danny and Peggy Thorton (www.beyondourselves.org) of Texas and their ministry “Beyond Ourselves,” HCJB radio station which provided radio promotion, and the Church of the Nazarene in Ecuador under the leadership of Rita Barco, the National Coordinator for MIEDD (International Ministries of Sunday School and Discipleship).

The workshop took place on the South American Nazarene Seminary campus, and 160 people from 16 Nazarene churches and 13 Church of God churches participated. People from the Church of the Nazarene’s North Coast District in Ecuador even came. Some of them traveled more than eight hours by bus to attend.

Some of the workshop topics were: Biblical lessons, clowns, mimes, puppets, and Child Evangelism. Depending on the training the participants received, they were given either a clown or mime costume or a puppet.

Saturday afternoon, the participants enjoyed using their training in a practical way. In the park Carcelén in a neighborhood with the same name, they shared the Word of God with children and all who were in the park. Twenty-one people made a decision of faith in Christ that day.
