(Uruguay CNSAM). The Tacuarembo’ Church of the Nazarene, North Uruguay District, was blessed with the visit of a Work and Witness group of 12 missionary brethren from the Owego First Church of the Nazarene from the United States. In spite of the intense cold, between July 12-18, 2013, the group worked on the construction of the future District Conference Center.
Not only did they share work, but also their personal testimonies at different times, and a great journey with more than 80 adolescents and young people from all the Nazarene Churches on the district, as they also did with the children in Sunday School.
In the Sunday service on July 14, the pastor Rev. Jesus Bernat, thanks to the translation of Pastors Tim and Susan McKeithen, presented each of the 12 members of the group. So those present heard and were moved as they felt the presence of a live God in each one of those who shared their personal stories and how they felt the call to this mission in Uruguay.
The members of the group included Dean Heckman, Larry and Carolyn Warren and Timothy and Susan McKeithen who have had previous experience in this type of service. This was a first time experience for the newlyweds Andy and Sara Kearnery and the Howard family of Stuart and Nikki, their children Katherin, 15, Jake, 13 and Chesse, 11.
Throughout the week we shared in community not just in the construction work but also the camaraderie during the lunches and dinners; where we shared with the Nazarene family the love of God for each one of His children when we said to Him “Yes Lord!” There was also a meeting with more than 25 leaders of the local church sharing experiences together with the group.
The last day Pastor Larry shared a biblical passage that describes the shared experience between the two churches: “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus”. (Philippians 1:3-6).
