(Argentina CNSAM) The Patagonia Central District’s youth camp was celebrated in the beautiful city of Puerto Madryn, Chubut, Argentina from January 23-26, 2013.
The latest national census calculates that the population of the city of Puerto Madryn has reached 100,000 and that the average age is 25. The city is a touristic destination with a strategic location on the coast of Patagonia, which UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site in 1999. During the whale season whales can frequently be sighted from the coast, and at night their sounds can be heard.
The District Camp was celebrated in the Church of the Nazarene in this city. Around 55 youth came from various cities in Patagonia like Esquel, Comodoro Rivadavia, Trelew, Rawson and the host city Puerto Madryn. This was the first district youth camp that was organized by the district. The NYI President Federico Berrondo was assisted by the national NYI leader Ana Melva Chávez and three other leaders who came to support the event.
Under the theme A Heart With a Passion Always Demonstrates Action the youth joined together for four days of sharing, praising God, enjoying and impacting the city.
Several testimonies from the participants expressed the following: “The camp was tremendous, with truly beautiful youth. God surprised us.” “Thanks to the Holy Spirit for dwelling in us and empowering us for great things. The fire is lit, but we must go beyond this.” “It was a beautiful experience, a great blessing! May God guide and strengthen each of the participants and the leaders in every detail.”
